Unsure about taking the next step?
Do I really need a web site for my local business?
There are as many answers to this question as there are peach trees south of Stewartstown, but there are a few general statements that may help you realize your needs. First a website can reach millions of people that might not otherwise be available. Second, customers can view products, services, or whatever you want to share from the comfort of their own home. Third, there are many people who already have “cut the cord” and only use a cell phone. These people rely on their phone’s web browser, rather than the Yellow Pages to reach you.
Why a custom designed web solution?
There are a lot of “Build your own website” solutions out there. You need to decide for yourself whether a more professional approach is worth it for you? If, for instance, your business makes between 3 and 500.00 a year, you’re probably okay setting up a Facebook page or doing a DIY site.
It is worth noting that when you receive a visitor to your site, they will instantly perceive the quality of your services or products. The first impression a customer or potential customer gets can often depend on the appearance of your website. A visitor will be interested and explore your site if it is appealing and easy to navigate. You are marketing yourself and your business to the world over the Internet and it is important to show your best.
Beyond a pretty online brochure for people without phone books, what can a web site do for me?
Many people overlook the various products, services, or business processes they can include on a website. Any communication or interactions that happen within your business can be made easier and more efficient through the web. I’ve set up social media campaigns, email newsletters, blogs, and full online communities all through web sites.
Do I need to hire a "local" web site designer?
By using the Internet, email and the telephone, it is possible to communicate effectively with clients in any location. Many clients, however enjoy having personal interaction and technical support. Even if you're not "local", I have access to a multitude of tools to teach and support you and the members of your organization.
How long does it take to have a web site designed?
The time frame is determined by the size of your web site, the complexity of your site design, and my current client design schedule. I will always provide you with a general timeline at the time of contract.
How much does a web site cost?
There are quite a few factors that are going to affect the ultimate cost of your web site. These factors include how many pages you are going to have, if you will sell products on your website, the graphic work involved, and how interactive your future web site will be. You will also need web hosting and domain name registration. My prices are more than competitive, and I invite you to join me for a free consultation.

I'm ready, what can I do to get started?
I've heard a lot about Domains & Hosting. What is that?
Securing a domain and a host is a step you can take on your own to save money (if you do it right). I'd be happy to secure these for you and my hourly fee. Most people take this step on their own, but it can be intimidating. Read on to learn more about Web Hosting:
I am not in the web hosting business. I’ll be happy to recommend web hosting services tailored to your specific needs. I've worked with dozens of hosting services -- the good, the bad, and the ugly. I usually do not recommend hosting on your local ISP, since they too often are not well-prepared to meet specialized business site hosting needs. Their main business is usually web access, and hosting is only a sideline for them. I also do not recommend any “do-it-yourself” or “web-site-tonite” style packages. They seem like an easy solution but are very limiting and almost impossible to get a professional product out of. Please let me recommend a Web host service for you. I require a host with FTP access, and strongly recommend a service that provides support for PHP, MySQL, and Simple Scripts add-ons.
Also, you should register a Domain Name through your web hosting service. If you already have a domain name, it may need to be transferred. You may check the availability of your domain name at Dynamic DNS (http://www.dyndns.com/).
Suggested Hosts:
Here are some hosts that may work for you. I’ve tried to note whether or not I’ve worked with them and what my experience has been:
